Fritz Mayr is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist. Berlin School style and sequencing have dominated Mayr’s last several albums. But when the Native American flute comes in three minutes into the first track here, it is a welcome reminder of how electronic music can be enhanced by the judicious use of acoustic instruments. The bell-like tones on “Ephemeral” are exhilarating and soothing at the same time. With three perfect long-form pieces, this may be Mayr’s best work yet.
